Throughout my years as an undergraduate, I have had the opportunity to collaborate and learn from knowledgeable professors as well as other students. Professors who were passionate and engaged in the material they were teaching motivated me to become an academic tutor for other students in courses that I found meaningful.
Over the years of working as an academic tutor and teaching assistant, I always pace my lessons according to the particular needs of the student. I emphasize switching between different auditory, visual, and kinesthetic learning strategies based on the subject I am teaching. I am particularly passionate about teaching in underserved communities for students who may not have access to particular resources for learning.
Having gone through Common Core as a student, I have a firm understanding of what the learning standards and expectations are. I tutored middle school students transitioning to Common Core in both English Language Arts as well as mathematics while in high school.
