My musical studies began at the Settlement Music school in Philadelphia. I then entered the Philadelphia Musical Academy (now called the University of the Arts). I graduated cum laude after majoring in Composition, Conducting and Piano. While in school I was also an Assistant Conductor of an opera company in the city. After graduation, I continued my studies at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. I have taught piano since my return from there in five different states. Since beginning teaching I estimate that I have given between 85,000 and 90,000 lessons.I have had many students who went on to study music at a higher level. I teach every level from beginner to advanced, and both children and adults. I enjoy the challenges that each student provides and being able to solve them. With the outbreak of the Pandemic, I have also gone to virtual lessons with students from California to Florida as well as local areas.

I have found that my methods work well with students of varying backgrounds and interests. I have taught music from the Baroque period of Classical music to the pop songs of today. I think the elements of the various periods are all born from the same root. If you learn to understand what you are looking at on the page then you will be able to play it.The rudiments learned in the beginning lessons carry over to the most advanced pieces.

I hope anyone reading this has a better understanding of my methods. If you want to find out more, then you can contact me, and we can discuss it further. Or, even better, would be to schedule lessons and find out firsthand.

Easy Going Piano Instructor with Lots of Experience

I'm a self taught player, and Ed pointed out my challenges in such a kind way. He had prepared well, and knew the pieces that I mentioned I wanted to learn. He gave me some goals and important tips, and was very patient.
