Hey everyone, I’m Dr. W! I am a physician (MD) and University of Chicago graduate with 5+ years of MCAT and college/medical school admissions counseling with direct experience in admissions as an interviewer. In fact, I have 2 years of direct experience with medical school admissions committees and have a lot of insight to share. I've spent time rotating at hospitals at Harvard Medical School, UPenn, and Duke, and have published research articles with faculty from each of those universities, which has given me unique insight into elite programs which I am happy to share if attending similarly competitive schools is your goal.

In terms of the MCAT, I provide 1-2 hr sessions for 2-3 days/week and require a commitment for a minimum of 1 month. Thanks to requiring this commitment I am able to say that my students on average scored 11 points higher on the actual MCAT than their last practice test score before our first session. Given this is a big commitment for students to make, I offer a free 30 min initial session for you to determine if I would be an effective tutor for your needs.

I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences with a specialization in Neuroscience from the University of Chicago in 2018, before moving to Philadelphia and receiving my Masters from Drexel in Biology in 2019. During my Masters, I took graduate level biochemistry, physiology, and anatomy-- three of the courses I offer tutoring in--and I received A's in all three. I learned these topics in even more depth during my medical education at Drexel. Throughout college, I had a tutor that was timely, reliable, and engaging. After I received my BS in Biological Sciences with a specialization in Neuroscience from the University of Chicago in 2018, and before medical school, I received a Masters from Drexel and took graduate level anatomy, biochemistry, biology, physiology, and psychology - all topics I tutor, and all courses I received A's in.

After I received my BS in Biological Sciences with a specialization in Neuroscience from the University of Chicago in 2018, I have been tutoring students in the college admissions process and helping them gain acceptance to their dream schools via reviewing personal statements, conducting mock interviews, etc. Ever since I have attended and graduated from medical school, I have had some experience in medical school admissions and offer a similar counseling service for medical school applicants as well. I am proud to share that many of my students have gained acceptance to competitive programs across the country.

I was assisted with my personal statement (medical school) by Joseph. I came into session w/ 3000 characters OVER the required count but after reviewing w/ him I ended the session very close to the 5300 character requirement. Joseph has been reviewing high yield physiology concepts with me for the MCAT and is not only super knowledgeable about all this content, but provides me with so many different tricks to help me fully understand and remember everything. He always comes prepared and asks me for my input before starting a session to make sure we cover content that will be most helpful for me. Not only does he teach and review all these pathways, but he has me run through and explain every pathway start to finish, to make sure that I fully understand it, which has been super helpful for me to retain everything. With everything he has reviewed with me in only two sessions, I feel much more prepared for the biology section of the MCAT, and I will definitely continue sessions with him. In addition to all of this, he is very patient and kind and never makes me feel bad if I don't remember something. Knowledgeable and Helpful Tutor

Joseph helped me so much with my Mammalian Physiology college course. He explains concepts very clearly and finds diagrams that are helpful for me to understand better. We also tried to "teaching-back" method where I would try to explain back the concept, which helped a lot in remembering the concept and making sure I actually understood what was taught to me. I received an A in the course, so I highly recommend him.
