Mechanical Engineer/Math Tutor

Hi everyone! I am a 2020 Mechanical Engineering graduate (3.98 GPA) from the University of Pittsburgh. In high school, I ran a science program for kids from the Camden area and volunteered as a tutor. In college, I developed outreach programs as part of our Makerspace to teach elementary, middle and high school students about science and engineering. Through these experiences, I learned that I love teaching and helping students excel and discover their interests. I spent the summer tutoring math and science before I start a full time engineering position at Lutron in July. I am now continuing to tutor in my free time since I enjoyed my experience this summer.

When I tutor, I make sure that students understand the why behind the topics we are covering. I ensure that they are confident and comfortable before moving to the next topic. Every student learns differently and I am dedicated to helping students in the why that works for them. In elementary school I struggled with dyslexia and am so grateful to the tutors who helped me learn and excel in the way that made sense to me. I am always excited to get to give back and help students in the way that works best for them.

I have always enjoyed math and want to help kids see how powerful math can be. My engineering education has helped me to see how math can make the world better and I want to help students excel in it. I focus on tutoring Algebra I, Algebra 2, Precal, and Calculus.
