Hello! My name is Brooke, and I love to make students feel confident in themselves by bolstering their test scores and enhancing their essays. I have taken the ACT, SAT, and GRE, so I am well versed in the format and the tests as a whole. While my focus in college was English, I can help in math and science as well, as I received a perfect score in the Math and Science section on the ACT. I also have tutored students in college Algebra, high school math, AP English Literature, AP English Composition, college essay writing, and more.

To get to know a little about my background, I graduated from Oklahoma State University with degrees in English, Spanish, and Geography. Now, I am attending graduate school to obtain my Ph.D. in English Literature from SUNY, Buffalo.

When tutoring, I like to see how the student approaches a question before I impose my methods on them. I think this style of teaching serves to first, understand how the student thinks. And second, it allows me to adapt to their learning style and procedure. I enjoy engaging in a conversation about a subject for the student to best understand the material. It is more important to me that a student can learn a concept rather than fill in bubble or punch in numbers on a calculator. To learn the subject will serve the student in the future and secure their base of knowledge. Therefore, I hope to help your student how they need to be helped and teach the way they like to learn.

I am currently getting my Ph.D. in English Literature. In graduate school, I teach my own course of graduate students covering writing and composition. I am now teaching writing about science. I have experience working with students of all ages and pedagogical experience at the collegiate level.

When I was entering high school, I took this test and did well in all three sections. I understand the mechanics of the test (all three levels and each section for each) as well as the stakes of the test. I currently specialize in the ACT/SAT/GRE and see this test as the stepping stone to those standardized tests. I have also tutored for the ISEE test before, and been successful.
