About Tim

Bio

I was a college professor for 25+ years. I have been tutoring on and off as a freelancer for about the same amount of time. I enjoy helping people who want to learn. I love witnessing that moment when students "get it." When students ask questions, it shows me they are engaged and invested - even if it is to admit lack of understanding or direction!

I think of myself as a teacher and guide. Although I enjoy teaching in the classroom, my favorite interactions are when I am able to...

I love witnessing that moment when students "get it." When students ask questions, it shows me they are engaged and invested - even if it is to admit lack of understanding or direction!

I think of myself as a teacher and guide. Although I enjoy teaching in the classroom, my favorite interactions are when I am able to help someone one on one whether with tutoring or answering questions. Tutoring allows for more detail and information. It allows me to focus on exactly what the student needs instead of covering a general curriculum. Tutoring lets me address what a student is interested in the most.

I am a Digital Artist and work mainly with Maya to create 3D environments, models, and characters. I work with all aspects of the Animation and Game Design Pipeline: Modeling, Animation, Rigging, Lighting, Texturing, UVs, Compositing, and much more. I use Photoshop and Mudbox to texture models and have also worked in Photoshop to do portraits, and general artwork.

I am proficient with PC's and MACs. I am able to use Photoshop, Mudbox, Maya, 3ds max, as well as game design software such as Unreal and Unity.

I am a lifelong learner. I value a desire to gain knowledge and better yourself. I hope I can help you to achieve a new step or dream in your growth as an artist.

In my opinion, software is not as important as a technique. If you are wanting to learn how to do something like model a character or paint, it doesn't matter what software you use as long as you know how to use it. If you need to learn a technique with a program I don't know, contact me. I'm flexible! I am learning new things all the time.
