About Stephanie

I love helping students learn and really understand the material. I make analogies and relate concepts to everyday life whenever possible. I have a sense of humor and always try to make learning fun. I love working one-on-one with students because I can see what concepts/topics are not understood and help build a strong foundation before moving on to harder topics.

I have a B.S. and Ph.D. in chemistry and have been tutoring/teaching chemistry for 14 years. I was an instructor of general chemistry at Penn State University for several years before moving to Philadelphia. Over the years, I have garnered many general chemistry textbooks, exam question databanks and homework problems.

Contact me if you're ready to learn and have fun at the same time!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Chemistry

I obtained my B.S. from Saint Mary's College of California and my Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Michigan. I started tutoring when I was in high school and have continued throughout the years. I have been involved in tutoring chemistry since my sophomore year in college and have taught college-level chemistry courses.

Knowledgeable and Detailed

We worked on molecular geometry, molecular orbital theory, and ideal gasses (I am in college Foundations of Chemistry 1). She knew how to solve all my questions right away and went into detailed explanations. I definitely feel more prepared for my test, and I would request for her to tutor me again.
