I have a combined 19 years of experience as a Primary Counselor and in education Director of Know and Grow child care center also worked closely with Dr. W. Wilson Goode for the Amachi Mentoring Program mentoring youth whose parents were incarcerated.
I had a successful career Elwyn Institute teaching staff, children and community leaders how deal with children that have witness acts of violence. Also, have tutored children from my home what I like about tutoring so much is that the communication and challenge. I like to find out their interest and then take the time to read up and study what they like allow them to become the child to become the teacher. Making learning fun that is the key not a chore.

My creativity looking at the child's interests combining their interests with what they have to learn in school. Motivation and encouraging that child learning is fun. Doing flash cards making up songs games at the same time getting the work done.

Phonics is something that children don't do much of. It is a fun subjects because a child has the opportunity to make sounds and have fun making those sounds, Plus learning how to pronounce a words properly it major part of being able to articulate and become an excellent reader and speaker in the long run

I believe the best tool for spelling and study skills is the flash cards. Not to again to make review a chore but Fun a sense of accomplishment. I have a series of affirmations that I use with children that makes them excited about learning.

I am a high energy love learning. I believe that after you gained the trust of the child. They will want to be around you to learn more. However, out of respect of the parent/s is to make sure that it is okay with them setting healthy boundaries is a must.
