My name is Jordan, and I'm a student at the University of Pennsylvania. I graduated as valedictorian of my international school with the full IB Diploma, earning 7s in HL Chemistry, HL Mathematics (Analysis and Approaches), and SL English, along with 5s on AP Chemistry and Calculus BC. My name is Jordan, and I'm a student at the University of Pennsylvania. I graduated as valedictorian of my international school with the full IB Diploma, earning 7s in HL Chemistry, HL Mathematics (Analysis and Approaches), and SL English, along with 5s on AP Chemistry and Calculus BC. Having studied in English throughout, I work easily with students taking classes in English as a second language or moving between the IB, AP, and American systems.

I've been tutoring one-on-one since high school, working mostly with high schoolers on college counseling and with younger students on math. On the counseling side I take the whole process rather than just the essay: four-year course planning for ninth and tenth graders, building an extracurricular profile with a real center to it instead of a scattered list of clubs, then school lists, application strategy, and personal statements for juniors and seniors. My most recent work has been mentoring an IB junior on diploma strategy and her application timeline.

The reason to work with me is timing. I finished this process a few months ago, so I know what applications actually ask for now, and I've made the exact tradeoffs I'd be advising on. I won't write your essay. I'll ask questions until you say something specific and true about yourself, then help you build around it. Algebra 1

I am a current University of Pennsylvania student on the chemical engineering track, so I use algebra constantly rather than just remembering it from a class I took years ago. I scored a 7 in IB Higher Level Math: Analysis and Approaches and a 5 on AP Calculus BC, and I graduated as valedictorian of my international high school. I have tutored math since high school, working with students in English on both concept building and homework support. In Algebra 1 I focus on the places students usually get stuck, like negative signs, fractions in equations, word problem setup, and understanding what a graph is actually showing, instead of just walking through answers.
Chemistry

Chemistry

I am a UPenn student on the chemical engineering track, so chemistry is the subject I use and study most. I scored a 7 in IB Higher Level Chemistry and a 5 on AP Chemistry, and I graduated as valedictorian of my international high school. I have tutored chemistry since high school and I am comfortable working through both the exam-specific requirements of AP and IB and the underlying concepts that general chemistry students tend to miss. I focus on the topics where students most often lose points, including stoichiometry and limiting reagents, equilibrium, acids and bases, thermochemistry, and reading what a question is actually asking before setting up the math.

I am a current University of Pennsylvania student who graduated as valedictorian of my international IB high school, so I went through the US application process recently and know what it actually looks like from the inside. I earned 7s in HL Math AA, HL Chemistry, and SL English Language & Literature, along with 5s on AP Chemistry and AP Calculus BC, and I was a runner-up for the Harvard Prize Book, which included a written essay component. I have tutored and mentored high school students since my own time in high school, including paid consulting sessions with IB students targeting US universities through Crimson Education. I work with students on school selection, application timelines, activity lists, and especially personal statements and supplemental essays, where I focus on helping students find a specific story rather than a generic one.

I graduated as valedictorian of my international high school with a 7 in IB Higher Level Math and a 5 on AP Calculus BC, so I can see exactly which elementary gaps cause problems later. I attended international schools my whole life and tutor comfortably in English, which helps students who are learning math in a second language or in an English-language textbook. With younger students I go slowly, check understanding by asking them to explain the step back to me, and keep sessions focused rather than long.

I am a current UPenn student on the chemical engineering track, so science is what I study every day and what I most enjoy explaining to younger students. I graduated as valedictorian of my international high school with a 7 in IB Higher Level Chemistry and a 5 on AP Chemistry, and I have tutored science and math since high school. I attended international schools my whole life and tutor comfortably in English, which helps students working from English-language science textbooks. With elementary students I focus on the why behind each idea, use everyday examples and simple demonstrations, and check understanding by having them explain it back in their own words instead of memorizing vocabulary.

I was also a runner-up for the Harvard Prize Book, which included a written essay component. I have tutored writing since high school, working mostly in English with students on analytical essays, structured argument, and the IB written tasks and commentaries. I focus on the parts students find hardest to fix on their own, including building a thesis that is actually arguable, using evidence instead of summarizing, and cutting the filler that pads a paragraph without adding anything.
