I'm Brian, a Computer Science student at Penn State and a Schreyer Honors College scholar with a strong academic record and hands-on software development experience. I tutor students in programming, web development, debugging, Git/GitHub, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, HTML/CSS, React, Node.js, and AI-assisted coding. I also hold certifications from freeCodeCamp in JavaScript Algorithms and Data Structures, Front End Libraries, and Responsive Web Design, along with a Google UX Design certificate.

My background is practical as well as academic. I built and launched my own subscription desktop software product using Electron, Node.js, Puppeteer, Cloudflare Workers/KV, and payment infrastructure, which gave me experience with real-world debugging, automation, APIs, error handling, documentation, and supporting users. I also have experience with research data analysis and technical problem-solving through undergraduate research and cybersecurity competitions. Because of that, I can help students not only understand syntax, but also understand how to approach messy programming problems, break them into smaller pieces, and debug them systematically.

My tutoring style is patient, direct, and focused on helping students build independence. I don't believe in simply giving students answers to copy. Instead, I help them understand what their code is doing, why an error is happening, how to reason through the next step, and how to use tools like ChatGPT or Claude responsibly as learning aids rather than shortcuts. I am a good fit for high school or college students working through intro programming courses, web development projects, debugging assignments, personal coding projects, or early computer science concepts.
