I’m a biotech professional working in GMP manufacturing at Minaris Biotech in Philadelphia. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree and use biology, chemistry, and statistics every single day in my job. Because I work in a regulated lab environment, I have to understand these subjects deeply enough to train others and ensure zero errors. That experience taught me how to break complicated science into clear, step-by-step processes that anyone can follow.
While I haven’t taught in a traditional classroom, I train and onboard new lab technicians regularly. My job is taking dense GMP protocols and technical procedures and translating them so a new hire can perform them correctly and confidently. That’s exactly what tutoring is: finding where someone is stuck, explaining it in plain English, and checking that they can do it on their own. I also led informal study groups throughout college for Biology and Chemistry courses, where classmates told me I explained concepts better than the TA because I focused on why it matters, not just memorization.
My approach is patient and practical. I start by asking what the student’s goal is, whether that’s passing a test, finishing homework, or prepping for AP exams or college courses. I use real-world examples from my lab to make abstract topics click. I’ve worked with adults ages 18-25 during onboarding, and I’m comfortable tutoring high school and college students ages 15 and up. I believe there are no dumb questions, and my job is to make science less intimidating so students can actually succeed with it.
