Hello! I’m Aminah. I’m a University of Virginia alumna, and I enjoy helping students bring their college essays to life that is authentic to them.
I went through the college application process as a QuestBridge applicant, where I wrote and refined multiple personal statements and supplemental essays. That experience helped me understand how to turn personal moments into meaningful stories that feel both genuine and compelling.
Since then, I’ve continued developing those skills through my writing in college and by creating guided journals focused on identity, storytelling, and personal growth. Over time, this has shaped the way I help others reflect on their experiences and express themselves more clearly and confidently.
While I don’t have formal tutoring experience, I’ve supported peers and younger students in one-on-one settings with brainstorming, editing, and refining their essays. My approach is conversational and reflective. I focus on helping students identify meaningful experiences, clarify their message, and feel more confident in their voice.
I primarily work with high school students applying to college and tailor each session based on where they are in the process, ranging from brainstorming ideas, outlining, or revising drafts. My goal is to create a supportive space where students feel comfortable exploring their story and writing essays that truly represent who they are.
