Dear Students and Families,
I am a middle school English teacher with a Master’s degree in English and Special Education from the University of Pennsylvania, where I developed a strong foundation in both literacy instruction and individualized learning. In addition to my teaching background, I hold a business degree and have experience teaching math, which allows me to support students across multiple subject areas with a structured, results-driven approach. I have worked with a wide range of learners, including students with IEPs in Autism, ADHD, and Dyslexia, as well as general education middle and high school students. My areas of focus include test preparation, reading comprehension, writing, spelling, grammar, and vocabulary development.
My tutoring approach is highly personalized and centered on building both academic skills and executive function. I use data trackers and goal-setting systems to help students stay organized, monitor their progress, and develop independence—skills that are critical for long-term success. I break down complex concepts using clear modeling, scaffolded instruction, and guided practice, ensuring that students feel confident at every step. In addition to my classroom experience, I founded a filmmaker’s writing lab in New York City, where students developed storytelling and writing skills through creative projects. My work has been recognized by Time Out Kids and the New York Post for innovation in teaching. I strive to create an engaging, supportive environment where students feel motivated, capable, and proud of their growth.
Sincerely,
Ms. Adams
