Hello! My name is Neelam, and I’m a current medical student with a strong background in the life sciences and a passion for helping students succeed academically. Through my undergraduate education, MCAT preparation, and medical training, I have developed a deep understanding of subjects such as biology, physiology, and pharmacology. More importantly, I’ve learned how to approach complex scientific material in a clear, structured way.

Having personally navigated demanding coursework and high-stakes exams like the MCAT and USMLE Step 1 I understand the challenges students face when preparing for rigorous classes and standardized tests. I work with students at a variety of levels—from those building a foundation in science courses to pre-medical students preparing for exams. Throughout my 4 years of college and 3 years of medical school I was selected as a tutor for each of my schools due to my outstanding performance in my classes. My tutoring style is highly personalized and focused on results. I take time to identify each student’s strengths, learning style, and areas of difficulty, and then develop a strategy that may include concept review, guided practice problems, test-taking strategies, and structured study planning.

In addition to helping students understand the material, I focus on teaching effective learning techniques that students can use long after our sessions. I help students develop critical thinking skills, problem-solving approaches, and study habits that allow them to succeed independently in challenging courses.

Above all, I aim to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through difficult topics. I believe that with the right guidance, structure, and encouragement, every student can improve and reach their academic goals. My goal as a tutor is not only to help students perform better on exams, but to help them develop the confidence and understanding needed to succeed throughout their academic careers.

Approved Subjects

Elementary Science

Elementary Science

I have extensive experience explaining elementary science concepts in ways that are clear, engaging, and age-appropriate for young learners. I specialize in breaking down topics like basic physics, life science, and earth science into simple ideas supported by relatable examples and hands-on activities. I also help design lessons and explanations that build curiosity, critical thinking, and foundational scientific skills. My approach focuses on making science both understandable and enjoyable, so students can confidently explore and ask questions about the world around them.
Epidemiology

Epidemiology

I have a solid background in epidemiology, with experience analyzing patterns, causes, and effects of diseases in populations. I am skilled in interpreting data from studies, understanding measures of disease frequency and association, and applying concepts such as incidence, prevalence, and risk factors. My expertise includes designing and evaluating public health interventions, assessing outbreak investigations, and using statistical tools to inform evidence-based decisions. I focus on translating epidemiologic findings into actionable insights for disease prevention, health policy, and community health improvement.
Genetics

Genetics

As a third-year medical student, I have developed a strong understanding of genetics, including Mendelian inheritance, molecular genetics, and genomic medicine. I have experience applying genetic principles to clinical scenarios, such as interpreting pedigrees, identifying patterns of inheritance, and understanding the genetic basis of common and rare diseases. My training also includes knowledge of genetic testing, counseling, and the ethical considerations involved in patient care. Additionally, I am skilled at integrating genetics with other medical disciplines to support diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient education.
MCAT

MCAT

As a medical student who successfully completed the MCAT, I have a strong grasp of both the content and the strategy required to perform well on the exam. I am particularly experienced in teaching high-yield biology, biochemistry, physiology, and foundational pharmacology concepts, with an emphasis on connecting systems-based understanding to passage-style questions. I guide students through evidence-based test-taking strategies, including passage mapping, timing management, and data interpretation for complex figures and research scenarios.
Pharmacology

Pharmacology

As a medical student with formal training in pharmacology, I have developed a strong foundation in drug mechanisms, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and therapeutic decision-making. My coursework and clinical exposure have required me to understand not only how medications work at the molecular and physiologic levels, but also how they are applied safely and effectively in patient care. I specialize in helping students organize drug classes by mechanism of action and clinical use, making complex material more manageable and easier to retain. By integrating physiology and pathology into pharmacology concepts, I help students move beyond memorization and develop a deeper, application-based understanding of medications.
USMLE

USMLE

As a third-year medical student who has successfully passed USMLE Step 1, I have a strong foundation in the basic sciences and clinical concepts tested on the USMLE exams. I have experience integrating complex topics such as physiology, pathology, and pharmacology into a practical understanding that supports both exam performance and clinical reasoning. I am skilled in applying evidence-based study strategies, including question-based learning and spaced repetition, to retain high-yield information effectively. Additionally, I can provide guidance on exam preparation, time management, and test-taking strategies tailored to the USMLE framework.
