Hello! My name is Erin. I am a certified Reading Specialist with a Master’s degree in Reading, with over 10 years of experience teaching K–5 literacy in both classroom and small-group intervention settings. Most recently, I worked as a Reading Interventionist at a cyber charter school, providing individualized literacy intervention to students performing below grade level, helping them build foundational skills and reading confidence. I am passionate not only about achieving measurable reading outcomes, but about helping my students feel capable and motivated as readers.
Throughout my career, I have worked with students ranging from emerging readers to upper elementary students needing targeted intervention. My experience includes whole-class instruction, small-group intervention, and one-on-one support. I specialize in supporting students who struggle with decoding, fluency, and reading comprehension, including those who require structured, systematic literacy instruction.
My instructional approach is grounded in evidence-based practices and structured literacy principles. I explicitly teach phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension strategies using systematic, sequential methods. I also incorporate ongoing progress monitoring to ensure instruction is tailored to each student's specific skill gaps and growth goals.
In addition to my instructional expertise, I prioritize building strong relationships with students. I am able to quickly establish rapport and create a supportive, encouraging environment where students feel safe taking risks and growing as readers. I believe that families and educators work best as a team, and I value open, consistent communication with parents. I provide clear updates on student progress and collaborate with families to ensure we are working together toward shared goals.
