About Richard

Bio

I am a full-time, one-on-one educator at Fusion Academy in Malvern, PA, where I work exclusively with middle and high school students — many of whom are neurodivergent, anxious, or have struggled in traditional classrooms. I hold a degree in Biotechnology from Rutgers and bring over a decade of real-world STEM experience into every session, but more importantly, I bring patience, warmth, and a deep understanding of how to help students who learn differently.

My teaching is entirely individualized. I specialize in supporting students with ADHD, dyslexia, anxiety, executive functioning challenges, and processing speed differences — helping them not only understand the material, but also build the confidence and self-trust to succeed on their own. I design instruction around each student's strengths, break down complex ideas into manageable steps, and meet them exactly where they are. Whether we're working on science, math, or SAT/ACT prep, my goal is always the same: to help students feel capable, not overwhelmed.

I also bring an unusual perspective to tutoring. As a high-stakes poker player featured on televised live streams (including Doug Polk's Lodge), I've trained myself to think clearly, regulate emotion, and make disciplined decisions under pressure. I teach these same skills to my students — how to slow down, manage test anxiety, think strategically, and approach difficult problems with clarity instead of fear. My students don't just improve their grades; they learn how to learn, how to perform, and how to advocate for themselves.

If your child has felt misunderstood, left behind, or just needs someone who gets them — I'd be honored to help.

I currently teach Biology at Fusion Academy, where I work one-on-one with middle and high school students to build deep understanding of life science — from cellular biology and genetics to ecology and human systems. My background includes a degree in Biotechnology from Rutgers and years of professional experience in pharmaceutical quality and research (Merck, J&J, Penn Medicine), giving me a unique ability to connect classroom concepts to real-world science. I specialize in supporting neurodivergent learners, including those with ADHD, anxiety, and executive function challenges, and I've been recognized twice as Teacher of the Month for creating a classroom where students feel safe to ask questions and explore. Whether your child needs help with test prep, lab reports, or simply building confidence in biology, I meet them where they are and help them move forward.
Bodybuilding

I bring years of personal experience in bodybuilding and powerlifting, including a 245lb bench press at 153lb bodyweight — a 1.6x bodyweight ratio in the advanced category. I've transformed my own physique through disciplined training, nutrition, and recovery, and I now mentor students in building strength, confidence, and sustainable fitness habits. As a full-time teacher and twice Teacher of the Month at Fusion Academy, I understand how to motivate and support learners of all levels. Whether you're a beginner looking to build muscle or an experienced lifter wanting to improve technique, I meet you where you are and help you reach your goals.

I currently teach Chemistry at Fusion Academy, where I work one-on-one with middle and high school students to build understanding of core concepts — from atomic structure and stoichiometry to reactions and lab safety. My background includes a degree in Biotechnology from Rutgers and years of professional experience in pharmaceutical labs (Merck, J&J, Penn Medicine), where I worked directly with chemical processes, quality control, and regulatory standards. I specialize in supporting neurodivergent learners, including those with ADHD, anxiety, and executive function challenges, and I've been recognized twice as Teacher of the Month for creating a classroom where students feel safe to ask questions and make mistakes. Whether your child needs help with test prep, lab reports, or simply building confidence in chemistry, I meet them where they are and help them move forward.
