I am a veteran educator with over ten years of teaching and coaching experience. I currently work as a high school English and language arts teacher in the Philadelphia region, and I am excited for the opportunity to assist additional students in their studies in these areas. I have taught and tutored pretty much everything in the English and language arts areas, including reading and literature, writing (creative, research, and more), vocabulary, grammar, and SAT prep. My favorite areas are grammar and writing, but I also love breaking down a story or digging into a nonfiction text with my students.
My approach to learning is student centered. I will never simply give you the answers or do your work for you. Instead, I'll work with you to help you develop strategies to work through areas of difficulty and get un-stuck in times you might feel like you don't quite know what to do. No two texts or writing assignments are the same, so I believe it is important to develop a tool box of strategies that you can go back to regularly when studying English.
When I'm not teaching or tutoring, I'm usually reading a book or writing something of my own. If I'm not doing either of those things, I'm probably out on a run training for the next race on my schedule.
