My name is Terrell, and I’m passionate about helping students reach their personal goals through clear, patient, and personalized instruction. I’ve been playing guitar for almost five years and teaching for over three, working with students of all ages and backgrounds worldwide. I had the privilege of studying under Andrea Balestra, a Berklee College of Music graduate, for two years, during which I completed multiple performance and technique assessments, including advanced improvisation, sight-reading, and style-specific exercises across metal, rock, progressive, and Latin-influenced guitar. Whether it’s mastering challenging techniques, building foundational skills, or gaining the confidence to play the music you love, I’ll guide you every step of the way.
I have experience in both electric and classical guitar, specializing in styles such as metal, rock, progressive rock, progressive metal, bossa nova, and funk. This diversity allows me to help students explore their musical interests while developing a well rounded and technically solid foundation.
My tutoring style is highly adaptive. I take time to understand each student’s learning style and goals, breaking down advanced techniques into manageable steps. I have extensive experience improvising across multiple styles, and I can teach you how to create your own musical ideas, develop phrasing, and apply techniques in real time. My knowledge of Portuguese also gives me a unique perspective, particularly when teaching improvisation, rhythmic phrasing, and style specific nuances in bossa nova, Latin influenced music, or even metal and rock.
