Hello! My name is Andrew and I am particularly interested in mentoring students and supporting families that have goals to develop a competitive college admissions application as well as be a well-rounded young person in academics, social life, and extracurricular interests. I am a lifelong Philly local and product of the School District of Philadelphia (Central High School 278) who pursued undergraduate education at the University of Pennsylvania - The Wharton School for a Bachelor's of Science in Economics. I have mentored and tutored K12 youth in Northeast and West Philadelphia since 2017, including college and career coaching as well as literacy and math coaching, on both paid and volunteer basis.

My tutoring approach is rooted in relationship-building and fostering shared understanding of my student’s goals so that we can build an appropriate plan to achieve those goals. I have successfully applied this approach in classroom settings, small group settings, one-on-one sessions and virtual sessions. Some of the organizations I've gained my 8+ experience with K12 mentorship, tutoring and college access include: TEACH LLC (February 2025 – Current), Independent Virtual Tutor (December 2024 – Current), Netter Center for Community Partnerships & Philadelphia Higher Education Network for Neighborhood Development at UPENN (Spring 2022 – Summer 2024), West Philadelphia Tutoring Project (Fall 2019 – Fall 2022), and Oxford Circle Christian Community Development Association (Fall 2017 – Summer 2019).

Approved Subjects

Common Core

Common Core

Throughout my K12 education, I consistently achieved Distinguished and Standard Honor Roll as well as service awards to my peers, including peer tutoring and support. I am capable of teaching Common Core subjects due to my experience since 2017 in classrooms supporting K-12 students with their academics. Even if I did not learn topics the way my students currently do, I make the effort to understand their teacher's preferred methods of solving or answering questions. I ensure my instructional support aligns with my student's classroom instruction by reviewing student/teacher lecture notes, previous assignments and any textbooks.
Personal Statements

Personal Statements

I volunteered with Matriculate in 2019-2021 to support high school students from NYC and Texas with their college applications. I was trained by Matriculate to accomplish this kind of work as a near-peer advisor who went through the college admissions process in academic year 2018-2019. I continued this work as an College and Career Coach at West Philadelphia High School, supporting a caseload of 40 high school seniors with their college admissions process. I am particularly expert at helping my students tell meaningful stories in their personal statements that creatively answer any selected prompts as well as improving the structure and tone of the statement. I have also reviewed 3 medical school personal statements since February 2025 that were submitted in early June 2025.
Tableau

Tableau

I studied Tableau in some of my undergraduate courses and utilized those skills to produce data projects. As a Data nerd, Tableau, R, Python, Excel and SQL are my core tools for data analysis.
