Hello! I'm Cameron, a science tutor based in Center City Philadelphia! As a theoretical scientist with a strong mathematical and computational background, I'm here to help student's build their confidence in the physical sciences from the ground up. I graduated in 2023 from Princeton University with a degree in Chemistry, and was a post-baccalaureate researcher at the University of Pennsylvania for two years, working in theoretical many-body quantum chemistry. As a high school student and undergraduate, I sometimes struggled to learn the mathematical skills needed for science, so I am eager to share my strategies for success with current students! My services include preparing students for science coursework, AP exams, and SAT/college admission science subject tests.

Throughout my undergrad and post-grad research, I was an active teaching assistant and tutor in physics and chemistry. I strongly believe that success in science courses can be achieved by first mastering the fundamental mathematical concepts, which then make the study of natural phenomena both easier and more interesting. I will work with students to locate their weakest areas, then focus on building up a conceptual understanding before technical skills. Of course, we will also focus on how to apply scientific skills during exams - how to get through problems on a time crunch, and efficiently check your work. Working with me, you will learn the concepts well enough to explain them back to me in your own words. We will also review your lessons from class; I will clarify your questions. Finally, a large portion of the session (if you choose) can be devoted to practice problems in a mock exam format. I believe the student must play a leading, active role in a tutoring session for the instruction to be effective! And improved performance in class and exams always comes naturally from a greater understanding of the subject.
