Hi, my name is Julia! I have an undergraduate degree in Information Science, Systems, and Technology as well as an MBA (graduated with honors) and a Masters of Science in Healthcare Policy and Research, all from Cornell University. While I now work professionally in healthcare technology, I've always loved school and I find that the satisfaction of solving difficult problems can't be beat. I love learning - whatever I can - and hope to pass on that joy to the students that I support.
I have four years of experience tutoring in a variety of subjects - physics, chemistry, data analytics and visualization, computer science, music, and SAT / ACT prep - all working 1:1 with students to improve their understanding and ultimately their grades. I get a lot of satisfaction from helping people learn and correspondingly welcome the chance to become a better teacher. I have learned a lot from the students that I have tutored, and the very process of tutoring has helped me become more knowledgeable in those particular subject areas. I customize tutoring sessions to the individual student and welcome insights into how you respond best to teaching, guidance, and support. My goal is not to simply "do the homework" or "find the right answer", but rather to teach the process of solving problems and ensure understanding of the overall subject area. I have tutored students from middle school to college ages 1:1, and have been a teaching assistant for several classes in my undergraduate years.
I want to help students as much as possible, so I welcome any ideas or suggestions you can provide. I respond quickly to inquiries. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson!
