I fell in love with Latin American culture after travelling to Mexico as part of an exchange program in 5th grade where I stayed with a family and hosted my Mexican friend Pedro in Philadelphia. I went on to study Spanish in a competitive Quaker prep school throughout Highschool travelled to Costa Rica my senior year.
In college, I continued deepening my understanding of various cultures and abilities in Spanish. I studied in Argentina for a semester and traveled to Cuba as part of a special program.
After graduating with a degree in Latin American Studies and Spanish I worked in the Dominican Republic for 4 months, immersing myself and catapaulting my language ability forward. Less than a year later I returned to Cuba on my own to do photography and after another 4 months of immersion, I can confidently say I earned my fluency and bilingualism.
Since, I have worked as a substitute teacher, tutor, full-time HS Spanish teacher, bilingual nutrition educator and professional interpreter and I am currently doing assignments remotely and in person in the Philadelphia region. I have taught students from Kindergarten up through high school level. I feel comfortable working with college age students and adults as well. Let's get to know one another and see how we can move your language or other goals forward!
