As a passionate educator with a Master's degree in Geology, I bring a unique blend of scientific expertise and proven teaching experience to the tutoring table. My research focused on the mineralogical changes of opal, providing me with a deep understanding of advanced chemistry and the scientific method. This foundation, coupled with my coursework in geochemistry, equips me to effectively guide students through challenging concepts in these subjects.

Prior to pursuing my graduate studies, I dedicated several years to teaching middle and high school students. This invaluable experience taught me the importance of personalized learning and the limitations of a "one-size-fits-all" approach. I developed innovative teaching methods that catered to diverse learning styles, fostering a supportive and engaging classroom environment where students felt comfortable exploring their understanding and asking questions. This emphasis on active learning and student-centered instruction continues to guide my approach as a college-level instructor at Temple and Widener Universities, where I currently teach introductory geology and chemistry courses.

As a tutor, I prioritize building strong relationships with my students. I begin by assessing their current understanding through a combination of questioning and reviewing their coursework. From there, I employ a highly interactive approach that encourages active learning. I guide students through challenging concepts by having them explain their understanding to me, identifying areas of confusion and filling in the knowledge gaps together. This collaborative approach fosters a deeper understanding and reduces the pressure associated with "getting the right answer." I believe that by empowering students to become active participants in their own learning journey, we can achieve lasting academic success.
