Hello, I'm Dawn!
I'm an undergraduate student at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business studying Finance and Marketing. As someone who recently went through the college application process myself, I know how difficult it can be to research colleges and write essays. Constant brainstorming, endless revisions, and anxiously waiting for decision days are all too familiar to me, and I understand just how big of a decision colleges are. Thus, my goal on Wyzant is to reduce students' stress and simplify the college essay-writing process as much as possible. I want my students to feel confident about their writing and know that they've submitted their best work.
I offer help with college essay brainstorming, writing, and editing, as well as the Common Application process in general (building a competent resume and/or activities list). I've been helping students with their college application process for two years now, with previous students now attending UC Berkeley, Rice University, USC, University of Pennsylvania, etc. One thing I always emphasize with my students is to share their own story- while I provide support with planning and revising, I believe that the ideas and content must ultimately come from the student and their personal experiences.
I also offer tutoring in reading, literary analysis, and timed writing (academic, argumentative, creative), as English Language Arts was my strongest and favorite subject throughout high school. I received a 5 on AP Language and Composition and IB Higher Level English. I also have a year of experience in tutoring middle and high school students in these skills, and I love being able to share my passion for interpreting and analyzing different texts, which I believe is a critical skill in this day and age.
