Hello! I’m Keertana, a current medical student at Sidney Kimmel Medical College. I graduated magna cum laude from the University of Rochester with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and minors in Computer Science and Psychology.

While I’m relatively new to Wyzant, I bring extensive tutoring experience across multiple popular tutoring platforms and several years of independent teaching.

I have over 100 hours working with elementary school students in English and math, 300 hours teaching Telugu and Hindi to middle schoolers, and over 300 hours working with students in AP and college-level biology, as well as those preparing for future academic paths, ranging from college applications to medical school interview preparation.

In college, I served as a Teaching Assistant for Genetics, Biochemistry, Physiology, Introductory Biology I and II, and several lab courses, and I also led workshops for Introduction to Computer Science. These roles strengthened my ability to explain complex topics clearly and adapt to different learning styles.

I offer tutoring in math, science, and standardized test prep, with particular strength in biology, chemistry, and pre-med coursework. As a medical student, I understand what it takes to succeed in rigorous environments and help students build both confidence and mastery.

I also mentor students through competitive admissions processes, including personal statements, application strategy, and interviews. My experience in undergraduate admissions has given me insight into what makes an application stand out.

I tailor each session to the student’s goals, making sessions focused, practical, and engaging. I look forward to supporting your academic success.

Biology

Biology

I am a medical student at Sidney Kimmel Medical College with extensive experience tutoring and teaching biology at both high school and college levels. I have served as a teaching assistant for multiple biology courses, where I led review sessions, guided lab work, and helped students master complex concepts. Specifically, I have had the experience of teaching: Principles of Genetics, Principles of Human Physiology, Principles of Biology I, Introduction to Biochemistry, and Perspectives of Biology II. I work with learners to strengthen understanding of cellular biology, physiology, genetics, and molecular biology through clear explanations, practice problems, and interactive discussions. My approach focuses on building confidence and critical thinking while helping students succeed academically.
College Counseling

College Counseling

As an incoming medical student with a 3.86 GPA and a 513 MCAT score, I have first-hand experience navigating the college and pre-med application process. I’ve mentored high school and college students through personal statement writing, activity descriptions, interview prep, and school list creation, particularly for students applying to BS/MD and pre-health programs. I’ve also founded and led student organizations and conducted research, which helps me guide students in framing their own experiences. I’m especially passionate about helping students tell their stories with clarity, authenticity, and confidence.
Genetics

Genetics

### Subject Title: Teaching Assistant for Genetics Course ### Subject Qualifications: Having participated as a Teaching Assistant for the Genetics Lab and now teaching the lecture portion of the course, I have developed substantial expertise in the field. I completed the course with an A and have successfully helped other students understand complex genetic concepts. My experience includes creating and leading workshops, grading assignments, and providing one-on-one tutoring to address individual student needs. Additionally, my role as a TA has allowed me to develop effective teaching strategies and a deep understanding of the course material, ensuring I can support students in mastering genetics.
Interview Prep

Interview Prep

I am a medical student at Sidney Kimmel Medical College with extensive experience mentoring students through academic and professional interview preparation. I have worked with over 40 students across high school, college, and post-graduate levels, including applicants to medical school, BS/MD programs, and Early Assurance Programs (EAPs). My approach goes beyond standard preparation. I design highly personalized mock interviews that include both traditional behavioral questions and challenging, unconventional prompts that require students to think critically under pressure. These include ethical dilemmas, healthcare policy discussions, and scenario-based questions that reflect the unpredictability of real interviews. I provide detailed, actionable feedback on content, delivery, and structure, helping students develop clear, confident, and authentic responses. In addition to mock interviews, I work closely with students on overall interview strategy. I help them identify themes in their application, refine how they present their experiences, and ensure alignment between their written materials and verbal responses. I emphasize strong storytelling so students can clearly communicate their motivations and growth. All students I have worked with on medical school and BS/MD interview preparation have successfully gained admission through at least one pathway. I have also supported students through multiple interview cycles, helping them improve between rounds and approach each opportunity with greater confidence.
MCAT

MCAT

I scored in the 87th percentile on the MCAT, demonstrating a strong understanding of the material and test-taking strategies. With extensive tutoring experience, I have a proven track record of helping students excel in various subjects, including MCAT-specific areas such as biology, chemistry, physics, and critical analysis. My background in teaching and mentoring, combined with my own success on the MCAT, equips me to effectively guide students through their preparation and improve their scores. I have participated in the Princeton Review MCAT course and have gained a good understanding of how to teach test preparation from that. I have scored this on my first attempt taking the test.
