Hi everyone! My name is Ahab. I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania in 2020, where I majored in Neurobiology. I am now graduating with an MD/MBA from the Perelman School of Medicine and the Wharton School, where I was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honor society. I will be starting residency in Orthopedic Surgery this summer.

I’m passionate about helping students at every stage of the medical pipeline, from medical school applications (primary and secondary essays) to excelling on USMLE exams. My current focus is on NBME shelf exams and USMLE Step 2.

I’ve been where you are and understand how challenging and overwhelming this process can feel. With a 523 on the MCAT, honors-level scores on all my shelf exams, and a 266 on USMLE Step 2, I bring a strong command of both foundational science and clinical reasoning skills.

My teaching style is highly personalized and results-driven. I focus on breaking down complex topics into clear, bite-sized frameworks, using practice questions to build pattern recognition, and helping you adopt the "NBME style" of thinking. However, just as importantly, I prioritize communication and trust. I want you to feel supported, confident, and never alone in the process. I’m always just a text away.

Over the next several months before starting residency, I have dedicated availability to tutoring and am excited to work closely with students preparing for shelf exams and Step 2. Whether you’re aiming to improve your score, refine your strategy, or just want someone in your corner who genuinely has your back, I’m here to help. Feel free to reach out. I’d love to work together.

Tutored me for Step 2

After a failed attempt on my step 2, I was devastated and lost all hope and motivation and was questioning my career and my path so far, so I decided to find a tutor and thankfully I found Ahab. He helped me realize that the strategy I was using to study was not ideal so he helped fix a schedule for me and got me fully prepared in under a month and a half. Not only did he help me understand and grasp concepts better, but he also helped me with my test-taking strategies which helped tremendously as my scores increased accordingly in a step-wise fashion after each practice exam. I realized it wasn't much concepts that I was lacking, but how to tackle each question properly and how the test-writers want you to think and how they want you to answer it. He simplified the entire process and broke it down step-by-step as what to look for in the question stems, how to properly read the question, how to save time on the questions, and how to not psych yourself out and get tricked. Not only does Ahab help with concept understanding and test-taking strategies, but he also helped me develop a proper schedule and optimize your study routine by making various lifestyle modifications. He will even go so far as to make sure you're managing stress and sleep and diet and exercise properly and boost your morale as well. I was really hopeless and Ahab not only helped me learn, but also helped fix my mindset which is the majority of these tests, not simply concepts to be memorized. Ahab doesn't just sit there and regurgitate information to you, he will actually train you in the areas he thinks you need improvement in, and this could range from conceptual understanding, to test-taking strategies, to simply your daily routine and mindset needing a change. He won't just sit there and tell you your schedule and what you need to do, he will make sure you're progressing accordingly and if there is something lacking, he will surgically pinpoint any and all your areas of weakness and guide you along the path. A session with Ahab is not just a session to learn information, but a session to grow and improve in all aspects. He will show you tough love and treat you like one of his own which is something most tutors do not even do, and that helped me tremendously after feeling hopeless and defeated, he pulled me out from a dark place and helped me bounce back from something which seemed impossible. I cannot thank Ahab enough for helping me succeed and move forward. Highly recommend.

Knowledgable, patient, and honest mentor for medical school

Ahab provided me with the most accurate and honest perspective on what it takes to do well in medical school that I have ever come across. As an incoming MS1 and non-traditional student, I came to him with many questions about how to succeed. He not only gave me targeted, actionable advice, but did so in a way that was direct, to the point, and genuinely calming for the nerves I had about the journey ahead. I would recommend anyone seeking real, practical guidance to book a session with him, the advice I received in just a few hours will stay with me throughout my entire medical school career.

Step 2 Tutoring

Ahab was a great tutor who’s knowledge base was as impressive as his test taking strategies. We met multiple times and each session was increasingly helpful as we developed a plan and reviewed material together. He was very flexible with his schedule and willing to meet whenever he was available and for hours at a time. Overall great tutor and I would highly recommend him.
