Engaging Tutor here to help elevate student performance

I studied the sciences for A-level (Cambridge exam taken senior year of high school). I then went on to study Economics at Yale University where my campus job was tutoring 4th and 5th graders one-on-two in math and english. I spent my summer after graduation working in South Korea at an SAT test prep center, where I taught in classroom setting (class size approx. 15). My next stint in tutoring was a few years later in Dubai where I taught high school math, SAT, and GMAT (to people in their mid 20s) one-on-one. In 2022, I had a thrice weekly 5yr old student to whom I taught reading and writing. He had missed out on in person instruction during covid, so I helped up catch up. Most of our lesson was games and activities. Finally, last year, I volunteered with Yale alum to teach a virtual book club to disadvantaged students in Cape Town, South Africa - roughly 30 students in total. I put together lesson slides with pictures of vocab words, and explanations of the material. I used my knowledge of their language to help bridge the language gap. Following the completion of our work, I spent a lot of time developing and standardizing material for this year's cohort.

I believe I am creative tutor. I consider my student, how best they learn, and find creative ways to teach material. I constantly reinforce previous material so information is retained. I believe in education. I thoroughly enjoyed school and performed well, but I realize that not everybody has the support they need to excel. Helping students improve their performance is rewarding work.
