About Ariel

Bio

As a graduate student at UPenn’s Chemistry Department, I won Teaching and Academic Awards and graduated in 1997 with a Ph.D. top of the class.

My MS in Theoretical Physics I received from TSU (Tbilisi State University, Georgia, former USSR) where I graduated with honors in 1976. My undergraduate research in Special Relativity won awards and was subsequently published.

I also have studied for 11 years at a conservatory prep. Central Music School (classic violin, top 5% graduate, 1970, Tbilisi, Georgia).

Among the subjects I taught in my 8+ years of college instruction were:

Physics : from Intro up to graduate level courses in General and Theoretical Physics
Mathematics: pre-Algebra to Calculus1, General Chemistry, Physical Chemistry; Classes sizes - from 5 to over 100

For 5 years I have been teaching at private HS. (in class and online) Algebra, Trigonometry, Physics, Calculus1, Chemistry, Biology) Class sizes 5 to 20. Successfully worked with students’ with learning issues

I have been tutoring (at middle, HS and college levels) for 10 years Algebra, Trigonometry, Precalculus, Calculus 1 and 2, Algebra-and-Calculus based General Physics, AP Physics, General Chemistry; SAT preparation

I also conducted private Violin lessons (beginners and intermediate, ages 6 to 12).

Approved Subjects

Calculus

Calculus

A prerequisite for studying Theoretical Physics has been a solid training in Mathematics (first among them was Calculus (1,2,3)). I did pass rigorous exams on all Math subjects with "A" and graduated with honors. With my working knowledge of Calculus due to my study and my own research, together with my 8+ years of teaching pre-Calculus, Calculus and Calculus based Physics and 10+ years of tutoring those subjects, I am able to present any Calculus topic in multiple ways so you'd understand, relate to, and internalize it - no matter where would be your starting point
Physical Science

Physical Science

I have a solid background in Theoretical Physics (honors MS) and 8+ years of teaching Physics at college, 5 years of teaching it at HS, and over 10 years of tutoring Physics to HS and college students. As a graduate student at UPenn’s Chemistry Department, I won a Teaching and an Academic Awards and graduated, (top of the class) with a Ph.D (Physical Chemistry) I’d meet you exactly where you stand, then show, equip, train, and guide you along the surest (and shortest) path toward your goal

Precalculus

Precalculus

When I was studying Theoretical Physics I got a solid training in Mathematics (first among them was Calculus (1,2,3)). I did pass rigorous exams on all Math subjects with "A" and graduated with honors. With my working knowledge of Calculus due to my study and my own research, together with my 8+ years of teaching pre-Calculus, Calculus and 10+ years of tutoring those subjects, I am able to present any (Pre)Calculus topic in a variety of ways and directions to make sure, whatever your starting point, you would not just understand it but relate to, and internalize it
Russian

Russian

I am fluent in literary Russian (I speak and write without mistakes). This is the language I have been speaking since childhood and which I studied at school and at university. I can teach you not only the use of the right words and grammar, but also a kind of "know how" (which, by the way, is most important) Russian Russian. so when you express your thoughts in Russian, your speech will be perceived as really Russian speech (and not as the speech of a tourist pulling words out of a dictionary one by one, or as a product of machine translation). Russian Russian words and the innermost rhythm of Russian speech, and I will do it on the material of the best examples of Russian literature, prose and poetry, folk tales and sayings and a number of other forms. This is the essence of my own method of immersion in a new language - a method that, in particular, I used to study English, which I apparently now know enough (for example, to teach students in college)...
Violin

Violin

Graduated (top 3) from a 11 year conservatory-prep music School (Tbilisi, Georgia, Former USSR) I played Mendelson Concerto (1st part) in my 7th grade, and Beethoven's Concerto on my graduation. I learned in my School and can teach students ways of practicing SMART (which is the key to get a proper command of the instrument)

Helpful and Patient

Dr. Ariel B. was extremely helpful in helping me catch up in a physics class that I was behind in. I missed the beginning and needed to catch up and understand the concepts. I wanted to make sure I had someone who had the time and patience and who was able to meet in person if necessary. Dr. B went above and beyond to make sure he was available to help me get where I needed to be. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for the attention to detail that not many know.

Patient and Helpful!

Dr. B helped my son with studying for his AP Calculus exam. He took his time explaining concepts and helped him understand the material. He feels much more confident heading into the exam and we can't thank Dr. B enough. Would definitely recommend!

Excellent tutor

Mr. B is absolutely perfect tutor for my daughter. Besides his deep knowledge of the subject, he is a great teacher. Mr. is very delicate and wise person. He is great teacher. He is very sensitive to his students. Mr. B is able to feel the mood of his student and find the only way to explain, which is good only for that student . My daughter is extremely happy to study physics with him.

Amazing Explanations

Thank you so much for the lessons. I’m finally getting rid of the confusion I had with various physics topics and am getting in depth explanations of WHY equations and principles work the way they do. This is really helping me for preparing for the physics olympiad and just improving my understanding of physics in general.

Always Kind, Patient, and Willing to Help.

Dr. B tutored me through Physics for Life Sciences I & II, two courses that did not come easily to me. Dr. B was always kind, patient, and willing to help. He was able to explain concepts to me much better than any of my professors or TAs could. I did significantly better in Physics than expected because of him. I highly recommend working with Dr. B!
