Hey there, my name is Shaan! I earned my B.S. in Chemistry from Pennsylvania State University in 2016, and I began both providing both private one-on-one tutoring and small group tutoring in 2014.
As a high school senior trying to decide what to study in college, it was very clear to me that chemistry would be my choice. My high school chemistry teacher was one of the best teachers that I have ever had; not only did he know the subject matter inside and out, but he was engaging and personable as well. While he was very knowledgeable, he also made the class exciting and approachable by giving examples of real life applications of the science. I think he also understood that to really grasp chemistry, you sometimes need to think in different ways. After all, the fundamental concept of the subject - an infinite number of impossibly tiny particles floating around in the universe - is not something that you stop to think about on a regular basis! But it was this perspective shift that made me fall in love with chemistry, and it's why I continue to tutor general chemistry today.
If you are looking for someone who can help you memorize a few equations, then I can certainly help with that. But to really learn chemistry, being able to approach a problem with a firm understanding of the concepts at play is key! And as your tutor, our goal is to improve your grade; but my hope is that you will also enjoy learning about the science while we do it!

To me, tutoring and educating work best if there is open communication. You should feel comfortable to ask me any question you may have, and if any explanation I give is unclear, you should feel comfortable telling me that too!
