Math can feel frustrating when a learner has missed one key idea—or when a past experience has made them doubt their ability. I create a patient, respectful space where questions are welcome and progress feels possible.
I am a Pennsylvania-certified mathematics teacher with a B.S. in Mathematics Teacher Education and an M.Ed. in Lifelong Learning and Adult Education. I also bring more than 20 years of experience designing and facilitating learning for adults in a large healthcare organization. That combination helps me explain concepts clearly, adjust to different learning needs, and connect new skills to what a learner already knows.
In our first session, I listen to the learner’s goals, review current work, and identify the specific concepts creating difficulty. From there, I break problems into manageable steps, model the thinking behind each step, and provide guided practice until the learner can explain and apply the process independently. I can show more than one approach when the first explanation does not click.
I especially enjoy supporting students in pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, and general mathematics, as well as adults rebuilding foundational skills for school, work, or personal goals. My aim is not only to help with today’s assignment, but also to strengthen confidence, problem-solving habits, and the ability to tackle the next challenge.
If you are looking for a calm, encouraging tutor who will meet you where you are and help you move forward step by step, I would be glad to work with you.
