Hello, my name is Lynn! I have been teaching college chemistry for my entire career since receiving my PhD in organic chemistry, and have recently retired. As a full-time faculty member, I had the pleasure of conducting research with undergraduates, serving as an advisor to chemistry majors, and teaching numerous courses in my department, predominantly those for chemistry, biology and pre-med students. I specialized in both developing and teaching Organic Chemistry courses, but have also taught General Chemistry.

I believe that it is possible to succeed in chemistry if one takes a disciplined approach to learning and practicing the principles. I teach by using many applied examples, and I stress the importance of learning through guided practice and problem sets. My goal is to instill confidence in my students to help them not only navigate through and succeed in organic chemistry, but also develop good study habits and skills that will serve them well in their other science and college courses.

I have been teaching chemistry for over 35 years at the college level. Over the years I have taught General Chemistry courses and their associated labs to primarily 1st and 2nd year students. I have worked with students for extra help in problem sessions as well as meeting one-on-one to help students to learn the concepts and be able to improve in their performance in the courses.
Organic Chemistry

Organic Chemistry

I have taught organic chemistry courses (both introductory and advanced) for my entire career. Because I taught in student-centered environments (classes of less than 40 students typically), I taught both the lecture and laboratory components of the courses. I have also contributed to the development of the organic curricula in my departments. I enjoyed working with students one-on-one during office hours and problem sessions, and have tutored many students over the years.

The Best Tutor on Wyzant!!

I have been using Wyzant for college for the last two years, and Lynn is the BEST tutor I have ever worked with on Wyzant and in general. She puts in a lot of time outside of our tutoring sessions to put together materials that may help me, such as materials she has created since she was a professor for I think over 30 years! I messaged her at the last minute, and she was willing to meet with me within the next thirty minutes. Her passion for teaching and kindness to students really shows that she loves what she does. She is new to Wyzant so that is why there were few reviews, but I assure you that that does not represent her dedication and ability. She also really helped me to understand material in Ochem that I did not understand at all from the lecture. And she will start from the very beginning of that subject and explain it in a way that makes it very simple to understand. This is the first time I am not getting frustrated while getting tutored because of her patience and ability to explain hard concepts! I highly recommend having Lynn as a tutor!
