My main focus in these lessons will be on the design. Teaching you how to come up with, plan out, research, refine and execute your own unique ideas. You will learn to use Blueprint scripting and C++ together as tools for creating quality projects. As well as how to use the various parts of the engine, 3rd party Digital content creation and animation software, and many advanced development/ optimization techniques.

Students of any skill level are welcome. Lessons will be tailored to the needs and goals of each individual. Typically the way I teach is by explaining, demonstrating, then watching the student put the concept into practice to prove proficiency before moving on.

I've been an avid fan of video games my whole life and since the early 2000s have been studying all aspects of game design/ development.
I've created and contributed to dozens of projects on a variety of platforms. As well as having tutored several students on everything from what is a variable, to the best methods for controlling the flow and pace of gameplay.

If you have ever thought about making video games either professionally or as a hobby, I encourage you to reach out for a consultation or to schedule your first lesson.
Your journey to being a game developer starts here!

I went to college for game and simulation programming, and have been using the C++ coding language for nearly 10 years. I've coded render engines, game engines, and games. My primary focus while teaching C++ is to teach a concise and clean style of coding from the beginning. As well as how to properly design, plan, research, debug and refactor, to produce performant, manageable code. Any skill level is welcome and lessons are customized to fit the needs and goals of the individual. Everything from how data is stored to using templates, lambdas, and virtual functions to build professional quality projects. Students with game projects will learn specialized techniques for creating performant, high-end, real-time applications.

Computer Gaming

I went to college for game and simulation programming in 2011. I've created games using several game engines, in python and C++. I have been primarily using Unreal Engine for the past 3 years, in conjunction with modeling, texturing, and animation software. I have worked on every aspect of the development process, from conceptual design to asset creation to publishing, and am eager to share what I have learned!

Another valuable learning experience

Quick to troubleshoot and clearly explains the nuances of UE blueprints. Matthew is very patient with me and makes me feel comfortable. He's helped with a couple of breakthroughs with widgets and a better understanding of Ai character pawns

Knowledgeable, articulate, and very helpful!

Matthew was my first ever tutor session w/ Wyzant, and he made it great. He is super knowledgeable, is able to explain complex concepts easily, and is patient and helpful. Will definitely be scheduling another session!

Excellent run-down of UE BPs and C++ Integration and functionallity.

Matt was absolutely excellent in educating me in the correlation of UE BP's and the C++ relationship. I was mistaken in thinking it was a proprietary system. In addition, he instructed me of many helpful UI integrations that will help me visually design systems that will assist in Extremely fast prototyping.

Knowledgable and paitent tutor

Matthew is fun to talk to and learn from. He doesn't get frustrated when I have no idea what to do next and he is very helpful. His homework assignments at the end of a session are very useful, and I'm glad to do them to try to solidify knowledge. I plan to use his resources as much as I possibly can.

Lesson 1

Zion said it was a lot of information being thrown at him and is probably anxious to start building stuff right away so that’s probably the only reason he didn’t give it 5 stars.
