I am a certified elementary education teacher with 28 years of teaching experience, including extensive experience teaching fifth-grade students, particularly in mathematics. I earned my Bachelor’s degree from Cedar Crest College and my Master’s degree in Technology Education from Wilkes University. Throughout my career, I have taught students with a wide range of abilities, learning styles, and academic needs. This experience has helped me develop the ability to recognize where a student may be struggling and adapt my instruction to help them understand concepts in a way that makes sense to them.

My tutoring approach is patient, encouraging, and individualized. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes without feeling embarrassed. I break challenging math concepts into smaller, manageable steps and use clear explanations, examples, guided practice, and questions to help students understand the “why” behind the math rather than simply memorize procedures. I adjust my teaching style and pace based on each student’s individual needs.

My goal is not only to help students improve their math skills and academic performance, but also to build their confidence and independence as learners. I especially enjoy helping students who may feel that they are “not good at math” discover that they are capable of understanding it when concepts are explained in a way that works for them. After 28 years in the classroom, I bring a wealth of experience, patience, and proven teaching strategies to every tutoring session.
