About Linda

Bio

I have been a teacher for 20 years. I have learned a second language and studied out of the USA. I have taught English as a Second Language and took the TSOL test as part of my studies in a French speaking area.

I also worked for Fortune 500 companies in international business. I understand world cultures and, therefore, am sensitive to people learning a language that is not their native language.

I use a variety of methods to keep the student engaged and to keep learning fun. I have great interpersonal skills, and the ability to access weaknesses and strenths in the student's learning process. I also take into consideration that each student has a different type of learning method that is best suited for them (audio, visual, writing, repitition, etc.) I try to tailor lessons to the student's abilility to learn.

I hold an MBA from Marywood University, Scranton, PA. I also studied E-Commerce at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. (I have transcripts available for review by students.) I worked for 10 years in management at Air Products and Chemicals in Allentown and Ford-New Holland in Lancaster, PA. I taught as an Associate Professor in the Business Department at Lackawanna College in Scranton, PA. and also at Marywood University in Scranton, PA. Subjects I taught were: Principles of Management, Marketing, Human Resources, International Business and E-Commerce.

I currently tutor ESL courses at the University of Scranton. I hold a Master's degree and have been a teacher for over 20 years. I studied foreign languages and know the difficulties in learning a new language and have developed techniques to move students through "language blocks". I also am a public speaker and won several awards in national contests for Forensics. Although my native language is English, while studying to be in the Forensic League in school I worked with a diction coach and have excellent diction. You will no be disappointed with my approach in teaching children.

I taught Marketing as an Associate Professor at Lackawanna College, Scranton, PA, for 15 years. I also taught Marketing at Marywood University for 4 years.
