Better Call Dr. Tosh.

Confused by homework? Preparing for an exam? Feeling like your professor is speaking a different language? You're in the right place.

I'm a college mathematics professor with a Ph.D. in Mathematics and more than a decade of experience teaching and tutoring students from developmental math and College Algebra through Calculus IV, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Geometry, and upper-level mathematics.

Unlike tutors who simply know the material, I teach it professionally. Every semester I help college students overcome the same challenges you're facing now. I know exactly where students struggle and the mistakes they commonly make. Because I teach college mathematics myself, I know what instructors are looking for on homework, quizzes, and exams. I help students recognize the purpose behind each problem, avoid common mistakes, and present solutions clearly enough to earn credit.

Whether you're trying to raise your grade, prepare for an upcoming exam, or build a stronger foundation before the next course, each session is tailored to your goals. We'll work through homework, practice exam-style problems, strengthen weak areas, and develop efficient problem-solving strategies that translate into better performance.

I have a strong track record of working with parents who want reliable, professional support for their student. I understand the trust involved, and I take that responsibility seriously.

Please note: I do not tutor students currently enrolled in my university courses.

Approved Subjects

Calculus

Calculus

I began teaching mathematics as a tutor and have worked with students in math tutoring centers at several universities, including the University of Florida. I teach across the calculus sequence, so I understand how Calculus II connects to both Calculus I and Calculus III. I help students with techniques of integration, applications of integration, improper integrals, parametric and polar ideas, sequences, series, and convergence tests. That background helps me spot common mistakes, strengthen weak foundations, and explain the material in a way that prepares students for exams and future courses.
Common Core

Common Core

I have over 10 years of experience teaching mathematics at the college level, including developmental mathematics courses that build and reinforce Common Core concepts. My expertise includes algebra, functions, equations, graphing, polynomials, rational expressions, exponents, radicals, and mathematical problem solving. I understand the progression of Common Core mathematics because I regularly help students strengthen foundational skills needed for success in college-level mathematics. My experience enables me to identify misconceptions, explain concepts clearly, and prepare students for more advanced coursework.
Differential Equations

Differential Equations

I teach college mathematics and have extensive experience helping students succeed in Differential Equations. I focus on exam preparation, homework support, and building efficient problem-solving strategies. I can help with first-order equations, second-order linear equations, systems, Laplace transforms, series solutions, and applications commonly seen in engineering and science courses. My goal is to help students understand what to do, when to do it, and how to avoid common mistakes on exams.
Discrete Math

Discrete Math

I hold a PhD in Mathematics and have extensive experience teaching undergraduate mathematics, including Discrete Mathematics. My expertise includes logic, proofs, sets, functions, relations, combinatorics, graph theory, trees, recurrence relations, and mathematical induction. I specialize in helping students develop rigorous proof-writing skills and translate abstract mathematical concepts into clear, structured reasoning. As a college professor, I have designed assessments, mentored students with diverse backgrounds, and emphasized both conceptual understanding and problem-solving strategies.
Finite Math

Finite Math

I hold a Ph.D. in Mathematics and have taught university mathematics since 2013. My experience with finite mathematics includes logic, set theory, counting techniques, permutations and combinations, probability, graph theory, voting methods, and mathematical modeling. I have worked with students from a wide range of backgrounds, from those encountering the subject for the first time to STEM majors seeking a deeper understanding of the material. My teaching focuses on building intuition, problem-solving skills, and confidence while helping students master both the concepts and applications of finite mathematics.
Real Analysis

Real Analysis

I hold a PhD in Mathematics and have over 10 years of experience teaching and tutoring advanced undergraduate mathematics, including Real Analysis. I help students work through limits, sequences and series, continuity, differentiation, integration, metric spaces, and proof-writing with clarity and structure. My approach focuses on helping students understand the logic behind definitions and theorems, not just memorize results. I am especially strong at helping students develop rigorous mathematical writing and build confidence with abstract proof-based coursework.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

I began teaching mathematics as a tutor and have worked with students in math tutoring centers at several universities. I now teach college mathematics and have extensive experience with trigonometry. I help students master identities, equations, the unit circle, inverse trigonometric functions, graphing, and applications while preparing for quizzes, exams, and future calculus courses.
