Hello, thank you for considering me as your tutor. I am currently a paraeducator in the Autistic Support Classroom at Williamson High School in Tioga, Pennsylvania. This position allows me to work across a variety of academic settings and curriculums. It truly is like being a tutor all day long. Over my nine years at Williamson, I have gained experience working with both 7th-9th Life Skills and Regular Education Classes. I work daily with students in Algebra 1 and English 10, and I also have experience in 9th grade Science and 10th grade Biology. This hands-on experience has given me insight into how students learn, and where they commonly struggle. As a paraeducator with 9 years of experience, I have learned that everyone is capable of learning, but it is different for everyone. True success is not always reflected in the grade, but in the growth and confidence students gain along the way.
I am currently in my second year at Grand Canyon University, majoring in Elementary Education and Special Education K-12. I made the President's List after my first year with a 4.0 GPA and am still maintaining that standard. I decided to pursue my teaching degree because I wanted to be even more involved in what my students were doing and achieving.
I love working with and helping students learn and achieve their goals, even when they do not yet know what those goals are. I enjoy helping students find the key to learning material that they struggle with. In my time at Williamson, I have discovered that there is no wrong way to learn as long as it works for the student. For example, I helped a student write their first-ever 5-paragraph essay. They were dreading it terribly. We completed it by sharing the document through Google Docs and working through it sentence by sentence together. I would love to discuss how I can help your student achieve their academic goals, too!
