If you are looking to apply to college (Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD) and/or compete for scholarships and fellowships to help pay for your degree, then I would love to help you achieve your goals.

I have a lot of personal experience with prestigious scholarships, as I graduated as the class Valedictorian during my undergrad, then had the honor of winning a 2021 Marshall Scholarship to move to the UK and pursue 2 Master's Degrees at Edinburgh and Cambridge. I just started my PhD and hope to become a professor in the future!

In addition to winning a Marshall Scholarship, I was a finalist for the Rhodes and Churchill Scholarships, and won a full scholarship that is paying for my entire PhD. I don't say anything of these things to brag - I have learned how to work hard, write stellar essays, and crush interviews for nearly every type of award/application out there. And now I want to help you to do the same!

I can help with everything during the application process for scholarships, fellowships, or universities. This includes: identifying which scholarships to apply for, brainstorming/editing/proofreading/writing essays, filling out applications, mock interviews (with feedback), insider tricks for how to win prestigious awards, and much more!

Career Development

Career Development

I have had the privilege of having several careers, and I have learned an immense amount from the successes and failures along the way. Over the past decade, I have graduated as the valedictorian of my college class, started 3 companies, won a Marshall Scholarship to fund 2 Masters Degrees in the UK, started my PhD, and worked as a Software Engineer for a startup and a huge company. I believe that careers are meant to be fluid, and I'd love to help you find your next move - whether that be academic, personal, or professional!
College Counseling

College Counseling

I was a finalist for the Marshall, Rhodes, and Churchill Scholarships, and I was selected as a 2021 Marshall Scholar. I serve on the Fellowship Advising Committee at NC State University where I select and mentor students whoa are applying to graduate school. For the past 4 years, I have advised several students on applying to undergrad and grad programs, prestigious fellowships, honors colleges, etc. and I really enjoy the process of learning about a students goals and interests to align them with the right program. I also love editing essays and personal statements!

Responsive, Encouraging, Knowledgeable Tutor!

My son was on a tight deadline to strengthen and edit essays for a prestigious scholarship. Colton was incredibly responsive and worked with my son's short timeframe. He was incredibly helpful and provided detailed, insightful comments. Just as importantly, he was positive and encouraging. Would definitely hire him over and over!

Super Tutor

Colton taught my client how to use Zotero and Consensus. He was very prepared and provided examples from his own PhD research. I would highly recommend him and we will definitely use him again!

Best Tutor Ever!

Colton B. is by far the best tutor I have ever worked with hands down. Not only is Colton unbelievably skilled and knowledgeable, but Colton is also extremely helpful and friendly. Colton makes difficult topics easy to understand and will always put a smile on your face with his humor while doing so. Colton always made time for me and went out of his way to help me on numerous occasions even when I notified him at the last minute about it. Colton is an all-around fantastic guy and tutor. If you have a chance to work with Colton B. you do not want to pass up the opportunity!
