Hello! My name is Erin and I am excited to be your Science tutor. I graduated from John Carroll University with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Criminology. Although my career goals changed during college, every career was rooted in the Sciences. I interned at the Cuyahoga County Coroner’s office, worked in Biotechnology selling liver cells to big pharmaceutical companies, and even worked in scientific sales. I’ve done a lot of things in life, but my favorite role is mom and teacher!

After staying home with my boys (and washing a LOT of uniforms!) I became a substitute teacher and fell in love with being in the classroom. I earned my Master’s degree in Secondary Education from Slippery Rock University and simultaneously obtained my PA teaching certification. Throughout the course of my career, I have taught both Biology and Introduction to Physics & Chemistry at the high school level. I provide weekly tutoring sessions to my students in either a 1:1 or small group format. I am also familiar with online tutoring having taught English to English language learners overseas. What an interesting experience!

My goal as a teacher and a tutor is one in the same – to help students reach their Science goals while making Science fun and engaging! I love making real world connections to the content being covered. Why does a car traveling North with the cruise control set to 70 mph not experience acceleration? What subatomic particles are traveling through a closed circuit like a light switch? Why do runners and athletes carb-load before a big race or game? The answers to each of these questions are real world applications of Science! My current students often tell me they thought they would dislike Physics, only to find it was their favorite subject. Who wouldn’t love riding scooters down the hallways and calculating their speed and velocity?!

Let’s work together to meet your Science goals! Remember – Science is like magic… but real!
