I have a Bachelors of Science in Physics from Lehigh University and am currently working towards my PhD in Physics at Stanford University. During my degrees I have gained a wealth of experience in both mathematics and physics, while also developing my own abilities as a teacher, mentor, and researcher, skills I hope to pass on to any that I can!
Throughout my life, teaching has always been a passion of mine. I first began tutoring in a one-on-one format in High School, providing my peers with help in Calculus courses. This led, naturally, to my being a tutor during my undergraduate degree, where I worked as a peer tutor providing physics and math tutoring in group settings. In addition, I served, in a classroom setting, as a Apprentice Teacher, a role akin to a Teaching Assistant in Advanced Physics Lab, in which I worked to develop lesson plans, administer lectures, provide experimental guidance, and give students feedback on lab reports. Moreover, I worked with the department to develop a science outreach program in which we went to local elementary schools and gave mini lessons on science.
Physics and math have helped me develop a sense of wonder about the natural world. My teaching style reflects this, as I focus on helping students build connections to the world around them and the current topics they are working with: after all nothing is cooler then understanding how stuff works! To accomplish this goal, I focus on developing, alongside the student, a style of tutoring that works best for them. This helps to build self-confidence and leads, inevitably, to mastery of the subject.
