I have always been an educator, it's in my heart! From being the oldest of four children in my family, to working full time 7 days a week as a live in nanny, to being a full time public educator, teaching is a part of me. After earning a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Child Development, I lived in Japan for two years working as an assistant English teacher in three local high schools. I provided English instruction and an opportunity for students to practice English conversation, as well as participated in a variety of cultural exchange activities.
After Japan, I earned my Master's in Education and Elementary teaching certificate and began my career as an elementary teacher. I completed my student teaching in California, taught my first three years in Nevada, and have been teaching in Pennsylvania since 2009. I have experience teaching grades K, 1, 3, 4, and 5. I am currently on my 8th year teaching 3rd grade.
I believe in building relationships with students in order to help build their motivation to learn challenging content. I enjoy making learning fun with plenty of student choice and project based learning. While I love teaching a classroom full of students, working 1:1 to help a child reach their potential is incredibly rewarding.
