When students struggle with material, it isn't because of an inherent inability. It is because they fail to connect the material to their life and the world around them. Reaching deeper into material by applying it to subjects of students' interest, using their natural talents and learning styles, and creating ways to connect life to learning are essential to opening the mind to the underlying concepts and broader uses of knowledge that make learning relevant and fun.

With more than a decade of education training, teaching experience at a variety of levels, and designing individualized tutoring programs and study skills curriculums, I can bring new perspectives, easy formulas, and momentum gaining confidence to my students. There is nothing you can't do! I can prove it to you.

Aside from having a deep appreciation for language and literature and being a published, professional writer, I have an extensive background in English education. In addition to my multiple degrees in Education, I also have a middle-school English teaching certification, experience teaching remedial readers at the elementary school level, and designed an academic writing program for middle/high/college students. My well-rounded background enables me to bring out the very best in my students while giving them skills that will last a lifetime.
