I’m Beena, a scientist in the pharmaceutical industry. I graduated summa cum laude with a bachelors degree in Biology and went on to receive a masters degree in Pharmacology. While in college, I worked as a recitation instructor for an introductory biology class, where I would walk students through difficult concepts to help them improve their exam scores. Watching students finally grasp concepts they’ve struggled with was one of the most rewarding feelings I have had. It helped me understand how important it is to take additional time outside of classroom hours to explain lessons in a way that makes sense to each student.
After undergrad, I tutored for a nonprofit that works with underprivileged students. I focused on general math, algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, biology, and chemistry and had the opportunity to work with students from across the country.
I have 1:1 tutoring experience as well as classroom teaching experience. I specialize in math and science but I’m also proficient in teaching computer skills, such as Microsoft excel, and high school essay writing.
