Hello there!

I’m thrilled that you’re exploring ways to support your young learner, and I’d love to share a bit about my journey as an early learning teacher. With over 25 years of experience, I have dedicated my life to understanding the unique needs of children from preschool through grade 4. My passion lies in creating engaging, individualized lesson plans for students who might struggle with traditional learning methods.

I have had the privilege of working with many incredible young minds, and throughout these years, I’ve seen firsthand how tailored approaches can lead to remarkable growth. My Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from The College of William and Mary has equipped me with a solid foundation, but it’s my hands-on experiences and the connections I build with students that truly drive my teaching philosophy.

I understand that each child has their own strengths and interests, and I love to tap into those personal foundations. Whether it's breaking down phonics into bite-sized chunks or introducing math concepts that reveal the "why" behind the numbers, my goal is to make learning fun and accessible. I incorporate games, songs, and imaginative activities that not only engage children but also make each lesson a memorable experience.

Additionally, I have extensive experience working with students with diverse needs, including ADHD, dyslexia, and autism. These unique challenges often require a more creative problem-solving approach, and I thrive on uncovering the individual “puzzle pieces” that help each child shine.

If you’re looking for a dedicated educator who will support your child in a nurturing and effective way, I would love to chat further about how we can work together. Let’s inspire a love of learning that lasts a lifetime!

I look forward to hearing from you!

Common Core

I am well versed in the Common Core as I used these Standards to create an English Language Arts K-2 curriculum for a school district I was consulting with. I helped prepare teachers for the standardized tests based on the Common Core. I am also currently working on my third book based on Common Core and Text-Dependent questions.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have worked in early education for decades in many different roles. I have deep knowledge of how the brain learns to read and am skilled at moving young readers along quickly. I am also well-versed in all elementary subjects, teaching students on a spectrum of special needs. I received my Master's in early education from William and Mary and have been published by Scholastic Teaching Resources.

As an early education teacher for over 25 years, I am very familiar with early math content and curriculum. I also know many strategies, tricks, tips, and even songs to help all students come to understand math as fun, engaging, and relevant.
