Hi! My name is Aleem and am a dual certified high school teacher in both Mathematics 7-12 and ELA 7-12. I have experience teaching students in both middle school and high school both in a classroom setting and through tutoring. Through my teaching experiences, I have taught Algebra I and II, World History, ELA, and various other STEM subjects. I have also worked with students on written expression (including essay writing), reading comprehension, preparing for standardized tests such as the SAT, and developing study strategies.
As a tutor, my ultimate goal is to provide students with an opportunity to ask questions in a safe environment so that they can learn at their own pace. I recognize that all students learn differently; therefore, I take the time to explain material in a manner that is clear and easy for them to understand and provide enough practice for the students to gain confidence in their abilities. Whether my students are looking for assistance with comprehending a reading passage, organizing a written paper, preparing for an upcoming standardized test, or working on their overall academic skills, I will meet them where they are and will support them as they continue to develop academically.
By teaching in such varying educational settings and teaching a wide range of subjects, I have come to learn that the most successful way to support a student’s growth is through patience, being encouraging, and having a clear line of communication between the tutor and student. I strive to create an atmosphere where my students feel comfortable being challenged, have access to support, and being treated with respect.
