If you're having trouble in your math or science class, I would love to help you get back on your feet. School can be way more fun when you feel you're understanding what's going on in class and you can choose to participate. Homework will no longer feel like torture because you can do it quickly and easily. Or maybe you are already doing well, and you want to improve your grade from a B+ to an A? Good for you! I can help you do that too.
Throughout my many years of school I always helped and tutored other students as I went along - my little brother, my friends, classmates, etc. - and I really enjoyed it. Now that I'm doing it officially I find it comes very naturally to me - probably because of all that experience I gained over the years of doing it more casually. I love the one-on-one interaction that tutoring provides because it's fun to uncover each student's unique hang-ups and then work with him or her to clear them up. I'm great at finding the problem areas quickly so we can spend our time effectively instead of running around in circles trying to figure out what's missing.
Helping the student stay motivated by keeping it fun and interesting is another focus of mine - often being "stumped" is just a sign of a negative mindset: "I don't get it" or "it's just too hard" are attitudes I love to chase away! I find there's usually just a little piece missing in the student's picture of the subject matter, and not that the student can't understand at all what is going on. I am very good at actively encouraging and motivating the student to push through being "stuck".
In terms of my own education, I've been through a lot of school! I earned my first Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in 2002, and a second when I graduated Cum Laude in Biology from Millersville University in 2009. I am also a native German speaker, so I can help you with that too if you need it.
I look forward to working with you! If you're having trouble in your math or science class, I would love to help you get back on your feet. My son has worked with Stefan now for several months and he is always on time and helpful. He is very flexible with timing. My son has enjoyed his sessions with Stefan and even found enjoyment in AP Calc!l! I highly recommend Stefan. He is patient and kind and gets along with the kids so its not a chore when there is a session.
Stefan worked with my nephew all summer on business calculus for college and was very helpful. He was able to cover almost the entire semester in lessons.
Stefan worked with me for 2 hours and was very patient even when it took me more than once to try to figure out the problem. He is a great tutor.
Stefan came prepared each session and his style of teaching was very engaging for my daughter. He knows how to correct without making the student feel bad. I recommend him as a great math tutor.
My first session with Stefan I think went pretty well, I think he can definitely teach me different stragies on how to better approach these chemistry problems that I seem to be have trouble with. I think he is a good fit tutor for me. And hope I can improve my grades soon.
Stefan has a strong background in math and the sciences, which has been evident and greatly helpful in our tutoring sessions for my college physics course. He has helped me comprehend and solve difficult problems by reviewing the relevant principles and helping me find consistent strategies to approach a variety of problem types. Stefan is a committed and professional tutor.
Stefan is fantastic. He was patient, knew the material, and most importantly was able to explain it in a way that made it easier to understand. Looking forward to future sessions with Stefan.
Only one lesson in so far but my daughter feels more confident and went from a D on her first test to a B- on the second.
Refresher course on college algebra. Excellent teacher! He is patient and explains his method in simple form. He is easy to understand, extremely intelligent and very friendly.
Stefan is a phenomenal tutor who went above and beyond to address our son's specific coursework deficiencies in Algebra II as well as accommodating our scheduling needs whenever possible. Our son was very comfortable working with Stefan from the very beginning and actually looked forward to his weekly/bi-weekly session for well over four months. We would highly recommend Stefan without hesitation.
Even though the homework was completed for the evening, Stefan used the remaining time to teach and review other material that would be used in the next course. Doesn't get better than this.
Stefan went above and beyond in order to accommodate my son's ever changing schedule. To top it off, Stefan even came to our house in the dark, snow and ice!
Stefan was a great tutor and the assessment came directly from my daughter. He was able to help her see not just the concept of Calculus, but also how to identify the direction to approach a problem. To me, there are 2 parts to math -- the problem solving and how to approach the problem. My daughter was able to solve most problems if she was prompted on how to get started. Stefan was able to show her how to look at a problem and figure it out for herself on how to get started. That skill had boosted her grade from a 67 average to a result of 83 on her last test where quite a few students in her class failed. In a meeting, her teacher expressed how pleased she was to see my daughter's improvement. That makes me a happy Dad and I definitely would recommend Stefan as a tutor.
Furthermore, I was particularly pleased of Stefan's professionalism. We met up at Manheim Township Public Library. He arrived early and reserved a private study room (we didn't even know the library provides private study room as we were never there before). When we arrived, all was set. I spoke to Stefan for 2 minutes and he was able to recognize where I would like him to target in helping my daughter. I was very pleased with the result. I was more pleased to learn how well he can relate to my daughter.
Stefan was a big help. He helped my daughter gain a better understanding of what to expect on her upcoming SAT's. We will see how it goes and continue with Stefan for upcoming tests.
Stefan has been great with our daughter. Since he has started tutoring her, she has been able to understand the concepts much better and apply them to her homework assignments. Very patient.
Right away my son felt comfortable with Stefan. They got started on the lesson and I could tell that they were going to work well together. Stefan is very patient and was able to relate well to my 14 year old son. After the first two lessons my son said that he is feeling more confident and is looking forward to more lessons with Stefan.
Stefan has been a big help to my son with Algebra 2. With fast paced block scheduling in school, it's often up to the student to learn the material on their own. Starting the sessions with Stefan at the beginning of the school year was a wise decision.
Stefan is working with my son on Chemistry, Algebra, and SAT Math. He is personable and relates very well to my son. My son feels that Stefan is great at giving him the insights and bits of knowledge that he needs to succeed in these subjects. Hiring Stefan through WyzAnt has worked out even better than expected.
Stefan knows his stuff. I was very pleased with him, he taught me alot about algebra. He is very patient and shows up on time. I would recommend him to anyone needing a tutor.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
