Hi!

My name is Nancy and I am a tutor on Wyzant. I tutor 30 subjects. When I am not tutoring, I am a child, teen, and adult counselor/therapist and a college professor. I have a BA in Psychology, a Master's in Counseling and am ABD for my PsyD in Psychology. I have been a substitute teacher in the public schools for many years and love helping people learn more effectively.

My name is Nancy and I am a tutor on Wyzant. I tutor 30 subjects. When I am not tutoring, I am a child, teen, and adult counselor/therapist and a college professor. I have a BA in Psychology, a Master's in Counseling and am ABD for my PsyD in Psychology. I have been a substitute teacher in the public schools for many years and love helping people learn more effectively.

I use proven learning and tutoring methods to teach you (or your child).

I tutor children, teens, and adults from Special Ed (ADHD/ADD, etc.) students to gifted students in English, Social Studies, Reading, Literature, English, Spelling, History, Computers, Vocabulary, Writing, and Psychology... . I tutor all national standardized tests such as the SAT, ACT, GRE, and HSPT. Also, I edit papers, theses, and dissertations.

I also teach any students who wants to learn - Study Skills, which includes general student organization, (books, notes, study area, etc.) time management, task management, reading for comprehension, note taking, doing homework, test prep and test study skills.

I am available days, evenings and weekends and will meet online.

Finally, I offer a free 'meet and greet' session - so you can get to know me before you make a decision as to which tutor is right for you. We can meet online for 15-20 minutes to discuss your individual needs!

I have extensive training and 4 certificates to teach this method! Research supports the active teaching of handwriting. Recent findings demonstrate that writing by hand improves creative writing skills and fine motor skills. In fact, elementary students have been found to write more and faster by hand than when keyboarding. And with the adoption of the Common Core State Standards, the emphasis and expectations placed on classroom note-taking and expository writing in grades K–5 is greater than ever.

Nancy B. helped my daughter to get ready for several aspects of the SAT. First, she helped her get ready for the content of the Reading portion of the test. She also gave her important pointers about test mechanics. Because she developed a personal connection with my daughter, she has been able to give her tips about how to physically prepare for the focus that she will need during the test. They discussed sleep and diet approaches that will maximize her readiness on the "day of." Overall, she has helped my daughter to increase her confidence - which may be the best part of all.
