Hey there! I have a degree in Fine Arts from York College of Pennsylvania. I worked as a substitute teacher from 2020 up until this recent school year (2025-2026). I did tutor a few art lessons on the side with students who were around 8th grade-11th grade.
While I worked as a substitute teacher I had an emergency certification. I was not specifically certified in a subject area but I was usually the go to person for subbing any art classes. I have experience teaching day to day in most subject levels, so I am a little familiar with explaining general instruction. I have experience teaching ESl, English literature and art for a couple of months at a time but I am mostly enthusiastic and comfortable with the realm of Art.
The approach I had with tutoring was to ask students what they were looking to improve or get out of our sessions. I helped some students create a portfolio, apply to mentor programs or just simply draw to find their style. I found myself drawing and creating along with students so that they could see how I approached whatever it was that we were discussing during the sessions.
