I am a graduate student pursuing a degree in public policy, and I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh, where I double-majored in sociology and biology with a minor in chemistry and graduated from the David C. Frederick Honors College. I have always loved learning, and tutoring is a way for me to share that passion while helping others grow and succeed. My academic background gives me a strong foundation in a variety of subjects. This is demonstrated by my 1550 on the SAT (800 Math, 750 Reading), 34 on the ACT, and 170 in GRE Math and 164 in GRE Reading.
My experience tutoring students began at the middle school, high school, and college levels. At the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy, I served as a Head Tutor and Writing Center Tutor, assisting students one-on-one and in groups in math, science, language, and computer science courses. I also developed personalized learning plans and provided literacy instruction as an AmeriCorps LEAD Member at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania, and mentored middle school girls through the GirlsIN2 STEM Program. This hands-on experience has taught me how to explain complex ideas in a clear, approachable way.
My tutoring focuses on meeting students where they are, understanding what they find challenging, and helping them make real, lasting progress. My approach is patient, supportive, and goal-oriented, and I work to create a comfortable environment where students feel confident asking questions. I go above and beyond for my students because I genuinely want to see improvement, not just in grades, but in confidence and understanding. I am always willing to adjust my approach, spend extra time on difficult topics, and provide encouragement when students feel stuck.
