My name is Beta. I have a BS in Engineering Physics from Lehigh University and a Master's in Physics from Temple University. I have over 20 years of experience teaching at a university. Most of my experience involves teaching in person, but I do have some experience teaching hybrid and fully online classes as well. I can provide tutoring in college level introductory physics and also high school and AP physics.

I have taught introductory algebra-based and calculus-based physics lecture and lab at community college and university. Currently, I teach Introduction to Physics 1 and 2 along with their labs at a university. This is an algebra-based physics course. My classes are usually small, and I get many opportunities to work with students individually both in class and also outside the class. When working with students one-on-one, I start with what the student already knows and build on that gradually by engaging the student. I use real world examples, applications, and demonstrations often to make difficult concepts more tangible and comprehensible. I believe in most cases, repetition, practice, and exposure to the same concept in different contexts facilitate learning. Furthermore, I believe that effective teaching looks a lot more like a back and forth conversation and discussion, rather than a one-sided flow of information from a "sage on a stage" to a passive listener.

I am a member of the American Association of Physics Teachers and routinely participate in conferences and workshops related to physics education. Furthermore, I have authored the OER physics textbook that I currently use in my classes at the university.

I would love to help students improve their understanding and appreciation of physics and build confidence. Please contact me if you have any question, or if you would like to schedule a session. You can always expect a prompt response.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Ms. Beta is helping me with my college Physics class. She is excellent at explaining the concept instead of just showing you how to do a specific problem. She also wants to hear your explanation of what she just explained. She will correct you in a patient and encouraging manner. She will also explain a concept in different ways if you are having a hard time understanding. I have done two lessons with Ms. Beta and I feel I have learned and understood concepts I did not grasp last semester.

Patient and Concise Tutor

As a sophomore struggling in physics, I was in urgent need of a tutor. Beta guided me in breaking down concepts that I found challenging and improved my understanding of physics content drastically, with only a couple of lessons.

Beta was JUST WHAT WE NEEDED!!!!

I’m incredibly thankful for Beta. She tutored my 11th grade daughter for Physics. My daughter felt comfortable and confident during the session. She also appreciated Beta explaining when she made mistakes. We will definitely be using Beta again! I am a happy mom.

Very knowledgeable tutor + assertive

Beta taught me AP/College Level physics. As a struggling and burnt-out high school senior, I was falling behind in my AP Physics C class because I didn't have the energy to put in the work needed to be prepared for exams and quizzes. However, when I started self-studying, I found that I needed more help, and so I called upon Beta. She guided me through basic physics principles with an active approach--first she explained it to me and then let me do it on my own. She didn't hold my hand throughout the sessions we had nor did she completely desert me. Beta is a wonderful physics tutor and I would recommend her approach to any struggling AP Physics student who is self-motivated but needs flexibility in their schedule.

Amazing tutor

Beta. K is very knowledgeable and patient tutor. She helped my son to master complex Physics concepts and worked through various practice problems to make sure that he understands and knows how to do them. If your child struggles in AP Physics class she is absolutely the best tutor!
