I am able to tutor in multiple academic areas because my entire career has been grounded in both deep content knowledge and extensive teaching experience across grade levels. I hold a B.A. in Biology and Secondary Education from Mercyhurst University, an M.A. in Adult Education and Communications Technology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and an Ed.D. in STEM Education from the University of Pittsburgh, where I focused my research on active learning and instructional coaching. My background also includes National Board Certification in Early Adolescence Science, which reflects advanced, nationally recognized teaching expertise.
Across more than twenty years in education, I have taught and supported students from elementary through high school, including one-on-one tutoring and small-group instruction. My classroom experience includes teaching elementary science, middle school life science, and high school-level biology, and I have consistently helped students strengthen foundational math skills in areas such as pre-algebra and algebra. Whether in a classroom, virtual environment, or individual support session, I focus on building confidence, breaking down complex ideas, and using clear, student-friendly explanations grounded in research-based strategies.
In addition to teaching core content, my work as an instructional designer and technology integration specialist has strengthened my ability to assess learning needs and tailor instruction to each student’s pace and strengths. This background allows me to support learners who need enrichment, remediation, or targeted skill development. Whether guiding a student through challenging science concepts, reinforcing math fundamentals, or helping them stay organized and engaged, I bring patience, strong communication skills, and a deep understanding of how students learn best.
